Dr. Susan Weller is a Professor in the Department of Population Health and Health Disparities, in the School of Public and Population Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas. She has over 100 publications in social science, statistics, and epidemiology. Her research has focused on minority health, measurement of cultural beliefs, and chronic disease. Her research on cultural beliefs was supported by The National Science Foundation, in particular the development and application of the Cultural Consensus Model to identify shared cultural beliefs. She has also done work on diabetes screening and management. Recent research estimated the five-year incidence of venous thromboembolism and other rare events and the effects of hormone exposures in women over 50 years of age.
